At the 2006 Cornwall Film Festival (16 – 19th November) Denham Productions and The Cornwall Film Festival will be presenting a 4docs event, examining films submitted to the Channel 4 broadband channel which invites people to upload 4 minute documentaries. To support this event, we want to encourage the making of 4 minute docs to be submitted to the festival (deadline August 15th)

The workshop
CHANNEL 4 IDEASFACTORY Northern Ireland presents a 2-day workshop on the craft of documentary film making. Using top examples of 3 and 4 minute documentary films that have been produced through either IDEASFACTORY for the 3 Minute Wonder week night slot at 7.55 on Channel 4 or for ROLLING STOCK, IDEASFACTORY West Midland's Film Festival on Trains together with the cream of those 4 minute documentaries that have been made for the channel's new platform, FOUR DOCS, workshop participants will be taken through the essentials of what's required in putting together a 4 minute documentary film.

The discussion based workshop will cover:

1. Developing the actual idea
2. Story boarding
3. Identifying contributors, preparing interviews and researching idea
4. Planning schedule for actual shoot
5. Filming
6. Editing
7. Uploading the finished project ...

Ideally applicants should explore thoroughly the Film & TV zones of IDEASFACTORY and FOUR DOCS in advance and come with a solid idea that they'd like to realise. We would prefer if people could bring their idea in writing.
Previous experience of film making is preferable
