To support this event, we want to encourage the making of 4 minute docs to be submitted to the festival (deadline August 15th) The workshop CHANNEL 4 IDEASFACTORY Northern Ireland presents a 2-day workshop on the craft of documentary film making. Using top examples of 3 and 4 minute documentary films that have been produced through either IDEASFACTORY for the 3 Minute Wonder week night slot at 7.55 on Channel 4 or for ROLLING STOCK, IDEASFACTORY West Midland's Film Festival on Trains together with the cream of those 4 minute documentaries that have been made for the channel's new platform, FOUR DOCS, workshop participants will be taken through the essentials of what's required in putting together a 4 minute documentary film. The discussion based workshop will cover: 1. Developing the actual idea 2. Story boarding 3. Identifying contributors, preparing interviews and researching idea 4. Planning schedule for actual shoot 5. Filming 6. Editing 7. Uploading the finished project ... Ideally applicants should explore thoroughly the Film & TV zones of IDEASFACTORY and FOUR DOCS in advance and come with a solid idea that they'd like to realise. We would prefer if people could bring their idea in writing. Previous experience of film making is preferable The Tutor Maud Hand is a multi-media producer, trainer and writer with over 15 years experience in production and project management for national broadcasters including the BBC and Channel 4 Television as well as various independent operations in Ireland and the UK. She currently manages the Northern Ireland hub of Channel 4's IDEASFACTORY, a key talent initiative aimed at supporting and inspiring 16 - 34 year olds keen to pursue a career in any facet of the creative industries with a particular emphasis on the television and film industry and its related disciplines. As well as designing and delivering an array of industry masterclasses and workshops for Channel 4, Maud also works as a training consultant for tfpl, a leading new media recruitment agency, specialising in the skills required to write for the web. She has a masters in Education from Trinity College, Dublin and in an earlier life, she worked as a teacher in the West of Ireland and London.
