TV Researcher Scheme - APPLY NOW!

9am on 22 March is the deadline for this great new scheme.

RESEARCHER SCHEME 2007

Building on the success of Cornwall Film’s first TV Researcher Scheme, Cornwall Film is now offering a new Researcher Scheme for 2007, supported by University College Falmouth, Top TV Academy, and Channel 4.

The Researcher Scheme 2007 has been designed to meet the needs of Cornish companies with aspirations to develop content for broadcast, grow links with broadcasters, and to develop skills and networks. The scheme aims to build the capacity of companies in Cornwall by increasing in-house ability to develop new programme ideas and the contacts and knowledge needed to effectively take these to market.

The scheme will provide market knowledge, peer contacts, examples of best practice, and access to senior executives and commissioners, creating invaluable links between Cornwall and London. Cornwall Film is looking for up to 4 creative individuals to take part in the new scheme, which will run from April to June 2007.

The selected applicants will need to be available to attend at least two tailor-made two day events - one in May in Cornwall, and one in June in London. The first day of the May event will be open to a wider audience. Other events will focus on the core group of researchers.

You don’t need to be a full-time researcher to apply (you could be a creative producer or director for instance). However, you do need to have practical research experience, and to be currently working within a local media company as the team member responsible for developing new programme ideas.

The scheme continues the link with Channel 4 established in the 2006/7 Researcher Scheme. Some of the researchers will also attend two training events at Channel 4 in May and June, reporting back to the group. Participants will be supported with individual mentoring from Top TV and Chris Truran at University College Falmouth.

Selected researchers will need to contribute £50 to take part in the scheme. Cornwall Film will cover all course fees and travel / accommodation for the London event. This represents an investment of over £1000 per participant – a fantastic opportunity for all those selected to take part.

To apply, download and complete the application form, and return to Cornwall Film by 9am on 22 MARCH 2007. You must be based in Cornwall to be eligible to apply.
