The deadline for your factual programming ideas is 12 May 2006.
CORNWALL'S MEDIA SECTOR READY FOR TAKE OFF
Cornwall Film has launched PILOTS, a new scheme to develop local documentaries and factual programming ideas for television.
"Cornwall has some really talented and experienced documentary makers. The aim of PILOTS is to help more local production companies and freelancers develop great TV documentary ideas, and to access the people who make decisions about what we see on TV - the commissioners." Says Pippa Best, Project Director at Cornwall Film.
The scheme will be hosted by Cornish production company, Seven Stones Media.
Pippa Best says "We're really thrilled to be working with Seven Stones Media. The four directors bring wide-ranging experience in TV production, strong links with commissioners, and a real commitment to developing new talent and Cornwall's media industry. By developing links with local talent on a slate of projects, this scheme will also help Seven Stones grow and create more jobs and opportunities in Cornwall."
PILOTS aims to develop at least 6 projects as co-productions between Seven Stones and local companies or freelancers. The initial ideas will be honed with Seven Stones' support and then presented to commissioners. In many cases, the teams will produce 'taster tapes' - short films that give a taste of how the programme will look and feel, and give it a much greater chance of getting commissioned.
Successful recent series set locally like Seaside Rescue and A Seaside Parish along with Rick Stein's many cookery programmes, demonstrate the richness of documentary material and TV talent available in Cornwall. We can look forward to seeing more of the county's stories on screen soon.
More information about the scheme is available at www.cornwallfilm.com under 'funds' - 'other schemes' or by calling 01872 240 900.
The first deadline for applications will be 12 May 2006.
