Development Fund

The deadline for applications to the Development Fund has now passed. You can view case studies of some of those have benefited from the scheme including Spider Eye and Jane Darke.

The Development Fund has been the most flexible of the funds. Cornwall Film's investment can be used to help support the development of a wide range of film, TV and new media projects or products within Cornwall's media companies.

We are keen to support strong projects that will develop the capacity and skills of local practitioners, create jobs, attract inward investment, and increase opportunities for companies to successfully reach new markets.

Investments might include support for documentary taster tapes, R&D for a project with market interest, games development, innovative joint ventures, and film or TV project development.

We can invest up to 45% of the total development budget, and will require applicants to provide 55% match funding.

Cornwall Film can fund specialist mentoring alongside our development investment - this might include marketing experts, support to develop a strong business plan, script editing or an Executive Producer. In some cases, we may suggest that you apply for some business development support via the Company and Individual Development Fund before making an application to the Development Fund.

Eligible companies must be based in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly and will need to meet the relevant state aids criteria (we can explain these to you).

Projects funded so far have included Spider Eye’s production of an animated taster tape, War-rag’s development of a local feature slate; and Jane Darke of Boatshed Film’s development of a taster tape for her next documentary. If you have a project that would grow your company and work towards sustainability, in which you or others are prepared to invest, do call us and we will try to find a way to help.

Final deadlines have now passed.
