The deadline for applications to PILOTS has now passed. View a case study of Seven Stones to find out more about how the scheme has benefited local businesses.

PILOTS

PILOTS is a new scheme to develop taster tapes for factual programming. Seven Stones Media will host the scheme. They bring wide-ranging experience in producing factual programmes for broadcast, strong links with commissioners, and demonstrable commitment to developing new talent and Cornwall’s media industry.

PILOTS aims to develop at least 4 projects as co-productions between Seven Stones Media and local companies or freelancers. Appropriate factual programming projects will be selected by Cornwall Film and Seven Stones. The deadlines for applications are listed below. Applicants must first submit an application form. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to pitch their idea to a panel.

Seven Stones Media will provide Executive Producer support to successful applicants (freelancers and/or production companies in Cornwall) to develop and package their factual programming proposals, readying the projects for pitching. In most cases, it is expected that the packaged ‘pitch’ developed with Seven Stones will take the form of a taster tape. In some cases the ‘pitch’ may be a detailed written pitch accompanied by advanced visual material.

Seven Stones will be responsible for pitching the project to broadcasters, and will report regularly to Cornwall Film and the applicant on the project’s progress. Seven Stones will manage all finances relating to the development process, monitored by Cornwall Film.

Contracts between the lead company and applicants will ensure the protection of the applicant’s ideas and their continuing involvement with any commission resulting from their pitch. The Terms of Trade under which this scheme will operate will soon be available to download via the Cornwall Film website - please contact Cornwall Film if you would like a copy.
